City Council approves Rotterdam as host city for Eurovision Song Contest in 2021

23 April

Today, the Rotterdam City Council agreed to the council's proposal to allow Rotterdam to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021.

Alderman Said Kasmi: "I am happy with this decision of the council. The EBU, the broadcasters and Ahoy can rest assured that Rotterdam will still be a host city in 2021. The most important thing for us is that we can make it a party for everyone. Lately we have worked hard and in that respect we are ready to welcome the 65th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 in our city".

This is the first important step towards the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The project organisation of the Eurovision Song Contest from the public broadcasters will eventually give a definitive answer to a number of organisational, production and financial questions. Work is now in full swing on these issues. The intention is to give a decision in May about a relaunch of the organisation of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021.
